Easter Sunday saw the 2017 grand opening for the Charles Burrell museum in Thetford, Norfolk....
Opening for their 26th year after a winter closure filled of hard work by the volunteers, the Charles Burrell museum had a great day. All engines were in steam and out in the car park, along with visiting engines from Bressingham Steam and Weeting Rally. There was also an array of model steam engines to see and stalls within the museum to keep visitors entertained. The tombola went down a storm with visitors and raised over £250, much needed funds to help support the museum which is independently run with the support of volunteers and trustees. The Steamers cafe within the museum had roaring trade all day, serving food and drinks and raising more funds. Here's a few photos from the day...
I was lucky enough to be invited along on the road run through Thetford, which you can see within this video showing the days events....
The Charles Burrell museum is now open every Tuesday and Saturday up until the last Saturday in October, when they close for the winter to carry out further maintenance and updates to the museum. They will be visiting various steam events throughout the year including Bressingham Steam over the May bank holiday weekend and Weeting Rally on 14-16 July - a great day or weekend out for all the family.
