I have a collection of family postcards with the oldest dating back to 1905. I inherited the postcards after my Nan died, back in the last century! I'm so glad she kept hold of these little paper memories.
The majority are holiday postcards but earlier ones are almost like text messages or tweets from today - short snippets sent and received the same day! The other interesting fact is the stamps, I've never been a stamp collector but there's a vast array of UK and International stamps in this collection.
It's fascinating putting them in date order and reading through the history my family have made over the years...from my great grandfather away with World War One to the M1 motorway opening!
The postcard images show history of places around the world, from Southend-on-Sea to South Africa - the more I look through the more I find. I'm currently scanning the postcards (hundreds of them!) and making a book, like a postcard diary.
I've set up boards over on Pinterest with some of the vintage postcards ...there's a little piece of history from all around the world!
